maf sensor and TB cleaning..?...

Featured Replies

i know the TB can be cleaned with brake/carb cleaner, also plan on cleaning the A.I.T sensor at the same time...

but the question is, can i use brake/carb cleaner to clean my maf sensor??

im thinking obviously leave it to dry thoroughly before re-fitting

cheers

electrical contact cleaner and leave it to dry out

Submerse the MAF with Isopropal (Maplins or RS spares) in a freezer bag & give it a good shake. It evaporates quickly so only takes a few minutes before you can refit it. Last time a I did a MAF with carb cleaner it died 3 days later.

Update....

All I have to say is EEK!! :-o

What a difference that made, throttle response better, pick up noticeably better... goes like clappers!!!

It didn't even look dirty but by heck it's improved the car

Throttle body tomorrow and I wouldn't mind betting that's coked up to hell

let's hope the maf wouldn't fail after the contact cleaner

Shouldn't do.. That's what it's designed for mate

Trouble with using contact cleaner is that most of them have a lubricant & leave a residue which attracts dirt.

I will be doing it once a month because it's easy to do :-)

I can assure you contacts aren't the same thing as mafs

no they don't.. specific contact cleaners are very powerful grease removers. We are not talking about WD40 witch is a multi purpose stuff

Wrong. I have to use contact cleaners in my work all the time, & most of them leave a residue.  WD 40 isnt contact cleaner.

WD40 is also a contact cleaner.

All specific contact cleaners wich I ever used were bone dry grease removers,Sonax is one of them. Will degrease even your hands and turn your fingers white

Whatever.
