Recently purchased an Octavia Scout which is well known on here having been previously owner by Niall on this forum who traded it in against a new Octavia 4x4.  I came across this site doing some research on the Scout.

I've been an Octavia Estate 1.9 TDI (110) owner for the last 4 years having bought it from my Dad who had it from new and tried to trade it in under the scrappage scheme and discovered it was 1 day too young - his loss my gain

Its been a cracking car for me serving as private transport/workhorse and tow car incredible reliable and economical -
trailered the Clan to Bridgewater in Somerset and the trip recorded 50mpg at 60mph over something like 350 miles.

Been on the lookout for an Octavia Estate 4x4 1.9tdi as the odd grassy field and traffic lights on steep hills in the wet off when towing has been interesting - never yet got stuck but would prefer knowing its not going to be an issue.
The lads at West End Skoda knew this let me know this car was being traded in so went and had a look at it about an hour after it was dropped off. Quick test drive and I bought it.

One thing I noticed on the test drive was the "turbo lag" compared my current car which has power from nothing the Scout is definately slow on the pick up - however from this forum it looks like this is a function of the engine map protecting the DPF - will see later in the year about removal and remap, not looking for more power just better drivability.

Anyway that will have to wait as spent quite a bit on refurbishing the Scout - although it has a full dealer history and a small fortune spent recently - I've replaced all the discs and pads, stripped and rebuilt the calipers/ full service, new timing belt and water pump/ drive belt tensioner/ gearbox, diff and haldex oils replaced so I'm starting with a clean sheet
by resetting the service intervals then service it annually.

Currently fitting a reversing camera (will post up some pics when finished) mainly so I can hook up the trailer in one go rather than having to jump in and out to check how close I am. Also trying to figure out why the reversing sensors aren't working.

Once all the work is done I'll get the current car advertised and when sold start using the Scout which is only an extra £8.95 a year for the insurance
