Sidewall puncture...

Featured Replies

Last night whilst driving through Glasgow centre I hit a pit hole, not long after I noticed the car handling rubbish and got out to find a flat tyre.

I changed over to my spare and took it to the nearest ATS where they found a puncture halfway down the sidewall.

Can these be repaired as its a winter tyre thats not even covered 500miles and feel like its such a waste if its scrap.

Nope, sidewall failure = tyre write off I'm afraid :(

Is this something I could claim off the council for poorly maintained roads?

Yes but you need to get there as soon as possible and measure the pot hole with pictures, but (I think) if it has spray paint around it you cant claim.

We have holes that have had spray around since Christmas.

It just shows the council is aware, but they should be fixing within a set period of time. 5 days iirc

I got some yellow paint from work and marked some on my road as they hadn't marked them all

So they all got repaired including my marked ones!

Those that have had settlements are where the inspection had been done and the work not carried out, or temporary and then not inspected again,

such as the member from here got from 2 tyres gone on the A90.

That was BEAR that paid out.

Glasgow has paid the most compensation in the UK it said in the press this week.

£1600 a day it works out at.

Check the Pothole Websites for the area you had the damage in,

see what action is taking place there.

A Briskoda Member with a vRS Fabia has a claim in just now for a pothole on a slip road in Glasgow.

The Inspection Paint area i took a picture of for a Member, it was the last of a number of areas not repaired properly.

he forwarded to the Maintenance Companey and they settled.
