Featured Replies

Has anyone used this tool to remove spline or other bolts successfully please?

No, but in principle it looks like it works like an "ezeout" - only stiffer, by being shorter.

Irwin is generally a decent brand.

Thanks have you used the ezeout with success

Yes.  I have used them, but with very mixed sucess.  Usually depends on the cause of the bolt/stud snapping in the first place.

Ezeouts are fairly crap.  But to be a bit more generous that applies more to the smaller sizes.  Usually only the very end is engaged in the broken bolt/stud, and so often breaks off.  Leaving a hardened bit of metal to remove as well.  Ho Ho not.

Like many such systems, they are very reliant on the hole drilled for the tool to engage with being as accurate and centred as possible.

I have some snap-on ones which have a drill guide and work better, but still give me the hebegeebees.

You already have the hole, and the extractor is short and stiff so hopefully much less likely to snap off.

If they are genuine, then there is a good possibility of it working.  (lots of counterfit and poorly designed/copied and made stuff around).

Thanks I have 2 to try; the spline tool and the irwin that is meant to take round nuts off so will try the rounded but for the round head of the spline bolt first.
