vibration when pressing on

Featured Replies

Just a quick one,

when accelerating sometimes a get a bit of a rumble/vibration from what feels like the middle of the engine bay.

My first thought was dog-bone mount, but also getting a bit more wheel spin than usual, as I have RS2s with less than 5k on them I don't think the tyres are to blame.

Could both these issues be console bushes? or looking at both console + dog bone?

No vibration with engine on while in neutral so I don't think its the DMF.

and as i also like to save the list up, sometime the red needles within the speedo/rev counter dials flicker every so often, yet nothing else does, is this probably just a bad connection behind the dash?

thanks in advance,

Kyle

With the needles also flickering, it could be the throttle position sensor just starting to go out.

Of course, it could also be the bushes, in which case a manual shunt test will confirm.

Could be an uneven surface on the Flywheel pressure plate.

The wifes old PD160 Ibiza had this on WOT in higher gears, it was like clutch slip but felt more like a judder rather than conventional slip.

When we sold it the chap that renewed the clutch and FW said the surface was badly worn on some bits but not on others.

Cheers lads, The flicker has happened as long as i can remember (about 3.5 years) but its not a constant things very intermittent.

shunt test? using a tyre iron on the a wheel bolt and seeing if there is much travel from the wheel to the back of the car?

Hmmm hope to god its not clutch related, too much money for my current position. Wouldnt say its in high gears either cant say I remember, at a guess id say 3/4th as I never tank it that much.

Ive had a similar thing, usually in 3rd under full power. Happens very rarely though and lasts for a second tops! Nooo idea what it is, i have a split boost pipe so could be that i guess
