K&N Cleaner and Oil

Featured Replies

Whilst looking in a cupboard I found some old K&N cleaner and oil. They were bought for my fathers previous car, so probably 15-20 years old, (early to mid 90's). Both look like they have 3/4 of a bottle left.

I have had my panel filter for 5 years and not done anything, so it's probably well over-due for a re-charge. So basically should I risk it and use the stuff or buy new?

I wouldn't risk it dude! Might block it and then kill the MAF it's not the most expensive stuff to buy

If I buy new oil, in the same squeezy type bottle, I can still over oil it can't I ? I just want to know do you think the oil or cleaner will have gone 'off'?

I'd give it ago. If the cleaner doesn't work due to its age just buy some new stuff. If it cleans your filter great!

The oil as you know just helps trap dirt which could be harder to measure its effectiveness so maybe buy some new ?

+1   decant the oil into a glass jar and take a look also in the bottle for any dropout (crud)    can't see any reason not to use it -----it's only oil don't over do it and  just give the element time to drain  gravity is wonderfull!!!

Yesterday I rang up K&N to enquire about using the old stuff. They assured me that it should be OK to use it. So I think I'll give it a go. If I can remember when my dad tried it he over oiled it, so I'll just have to be careful.
