Much chance of a big banner for TRAX?

Featured Replies

Just wondering as I still have the two 10 foot poles I had manufactured to hold a big banner up nice and high... Was for last year's event.

Basic need is for a banner of any width, as long as its three foot high (thats the gap between the rings I have welded on the upper section of each pole - one at 7 foot, other at 10ft.

Quite happy to bring to TRAX if a banner is in the offing. Will even get some string for the "guy ropes" Oh, and it needs to go in grass, as each pole is spiked.

ColD is in the process of getting some made up, I've already asked.

How do you get the spikes in the hard earth?

You talking about tarmac? Might need to bring along a breaker hammer for that.

It should however go into just "ground" as the spikes are pretty sharp and as long the ropes and "pegs" are secure, the thing will stay up I'm sure.

(not been tried and tested yet though! )

I meant baked earth J.

You can exactly hit the top of the pole with a hammer can you.

We have a short spike we drove into the ground first and then the pole fits over that like a sleeve.

If it's been hot for a while it's a right female organ getting the spike in the ground.

Either that or we get some nets ;-)

whats the diameter of the pole J, i'll get a couple buckets and some cement from work then fill as necessary with some conduit/copper pipe for the holes :D

Sorry mate

[big stick' date= grabbing wrong end of]

The 10 foot poles are in two halfs (can see where they join where taped up a bit on the piccie) Its simply two 5 foot sections, and the lower section could be hammered in first with a wooden mallet or similar. Top section could then be put on top and secured with the guy ropes. :)

edit: Bengie! I'm not sure on the size but a top idea - Won't help with the guy ropes though, unless we roll a couple of car tyres on to the ropes! Its made up of box section, quite chunky. I suspect its 1" box section. Heavy steel stuff. ;)

get me a measurement J and i'll get mixing(that was mixing not mincing before people mis-quote). we could tie the ropes to cars, either that or i have some spare elegence alloys kicking about :o

hopefully more by the time i get to trax :D

Nah sod it! Just bring a bag of blue circle, bag of aggregate, gallon of water and two buckets. We'll mix it on the day!

Good idea, but thats more of a flag. I'm thinking of something with BRISKODA.net across it, about three foot high, and I guess would have to be about 12+ foot wide to accommodate that amount of text?
