Daytime running lights

Featured Replies

I wondered if a UK rpid has this function.  Is it as simple as removing the fuse box cover and pressing a switch.  I only asking because some of the features it mentions in the handbook don't appy to UK models.  Want my car to look slightly more classy.

I noticed this in the manual. If it's in the UK handbook I would have expected UK Rapids to be set up likewise...?

What do you mean. Mine has DRLs activated. Didn't do anything...

the reason I ased is, according to hand book mine should have a warning to say refill windsceen fluid, however my fluid ran out (on purpose to see if dash light lit) however it never came on, when I asked the dealers they said the handbook applies to ALL countirs but rapids dont come with that here.  Any way I just thought my DRL's maybe on anyway and I dont know fromb eing sat inside

Well after neary breaking my fingers trying to remove the fuse box cover I turned on the DLR's  looked at car  WHAT a WASTE of time.  I was expecting a line of LED bright type as on Audi etc.  Looked like I had very dim side lights on, dispaointedly turned them off again, PAH

lol :)

yeah the drls as on Rapid sport concept, would be great.

i dont like the factory ones either, that's why i have the position light bulbs off and slighlty modded the foglights to look as drl (turn them on every time)

What should I look for in the fusebox to activate my daytime driving light Mark is is it obvious/labelled?

lol :)

I hope to see Rapid Sport type DRLs when they facelift the Rapid.

To turn on DRL's it's dead easy, that is once you have removed the fuse box cover which for me was anything BUT easy.  There is a swich in the fuse box you just need to turn on thats is the simple part.  Once you have done that replace cover (easy) and then ingition on and look at front of car (lights) you will be astounded at how ****E they are

I assume you mean in how basic / unflashy they look? In terms of brightness mine are actually brighter than the sidelights.

Mine came activated

May try them again tomorrow as I go for a drive  I bet other drivers have to wear sunglasses now  hehe

Cheers Mark. Is the relevant switch labelled, or do I need to use the handbook to find it?

There is only the one switch there.  Just press it

I like the sound of that! Cheers!

Slightly OT, but why do the front fogs come on when in reverse gear? ( when you have your lights on )

I like this function, since it is very useful, because when you are reversing it lights everything in the front of the car, so that if you are turning you do not overlook and hit anything.

If it bothers you, it should be possible to turn it off with VCDS. Though, usually people would like to turn it on (for example on Octavia II FL) :giggle: .

I had a change of mind yesterday and turned them on.  I take back what I said re their brightness as in the evening and later i tried them on their own.  They ARE actually brighter than the side lights. And seem almost same intensity as the head lights but not as broad a beam.  Perhaos I was in the way of thinkig of the DRL's on Audis and Ford where there is a row of small very bright LED's

I might do likewise...

The super flashy LED DRL's are reserved for the premium models. They are desirable so most manufacturers use them as a marketable feature.

This is why only the vRS and Superb models get them in the Skoda range.

Even the lower spec Audi's and VW's make do with the incandescent variety. I'm afraid as a Rapid owner it'll be a while before you see LED DRL's.
