Milltek Cat Back Resonated or non-Resonated ?

Featured Replies

So now that the Mrs has an 09 Cooper S Clubman which has IMHO a great OEM exhaust system, I am hankering to change the OEM vRS system to make it a bit more vocal.

Her MCS system is great, nice and refined when cruising on the Motorway, with a lovely roar when under load.

So that is what I am looking for with the vRS, is the non-Res version too noisy inside when cruising on A roads or Motorways ? Can you still hear a Resonated system inside when under load ?

Anybody have any internal recordings of a Resonated or non-Resonated system on a 2.0TSi ?

I've tried a search on YouTube but can find a clear comparison.

Thanks.

I've a milltek non resonated .Unless your young and single and don't have kids oh and are deaf then buy the resonated one.Im almost deaf now, certainly not young and almost single because of the exhaust ;)

Too much drone under load ,maybe worse because ive an estate?

Mine is resonated, its a nicer sound than Oem but not boomy, sounds purposeful when giving it welly, very happy with it

I had a non-res. it was only on the car for about 30 minutes - one test drive was enought for me to realise I should have bought a resonated version.. very boomy under load, not for me. Mines an estate too.

Agree with all the comments. Has to be resonated.

Resonated has been ordered - thanks for the feedback folks.

Glad to help you make the correct choice :)

What is the aural difference between the resonated miltek and the OE system on a tsi vrs estate? Mine sound crap tbh with what can only be described as a bandsaw under full throttle. The only benefit is its quiet when cruising which is important for me.

Would be interested to hear this once fitted as I'm in the market for an exhaust too

Always had milltek non res systems and have been more than happy with them but hearing the backbox is restrictive a lot lately.

Hear a lot of good things about bcs so will be trying one of their 3" systems this time round.
