New Ocatvia 1.6TDI

Featured Replies

Hi folks, just ordered a New Octavia Elegance 1.6TDI manual hatch in Rio Red, should be down from Dublin by middle of next week.

Anyway since it's been a while since I bought a new car, when I take delivery of it, what are the things I should check for in and around the car e.g fit and finish, panel gap's etc.

Many thanks

*Check exterior bodywork panel by panel. Look for chips, dents, scratches, paint blemishes, uneven panel gaps, poor seal fittings around doors and windows.

*Inspect interior trim for defects and marks.

*Check that all controls function.

*Ensure spare wheel, jack and locking wheel tool are available (if ordered).

The most important thing to check is for possible damage or blemishes to bodywork and interior trim because once driven away Dealers may be unwilling to admit responsibility. Any other problems missed upon collection are generally resolvable under warranty.

Agree regard blemishes to the paint, have one on the nsf wing, which has obviously been missed by everyone from the factory to the dealers. However it's small and well masked with the paint being white and likewise I didn't spot it until I gave it it's first wash and polish.

Best describe the blemish as a very small semi dried drip of paint that's landed on the semi dried paint finish and sort of fused together in an uneven patch on the wheel arch crease line.
