A couple of questions! (Double Din & Cruise Control)

Featured Replies

Been spending the last couple of hours searching but my mind's getting a bit blown by all the information on this site, so I wanted to just double check on a couple of things.

Firstly, I'm intending to fit a double din headunit. I've been looking at these two:

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/jvc-kw-av61bt-double-din

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-alpine-ivew530bt_p-27665.htm

I've then noticed this one which seems to be more of a direct fit unit:

For the first two, am I right in thinking I'd just need a fascia and the can-bus unit thing to make sure it turns off with the ignition then I'd be all good to go? I'm intending to fit a reversing camera to go with whichever one I choose, and they all seem to be compatible with them.

Secondly, I'm intending to get cruise control retrofitted to the car.

My understanding is that I need to get a stalk like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-CRUISE-CONTROL-VW-TOURAN-GOLF-MK5-EOS-SEAT-SKODA-1K0953513A/360866238692?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222006%26algo%3DSIC.FITP%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140107083358%26meid%3D5046367060882611618%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D20140107083358%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D170798212200

And then get it coded into the car by someone with the required software? I'm hoping my local specialist will know what needs to be done.

Any advice at all is greatly appreciated, completely new to VAG modding and it's all turning my head into a jumble! :D

Cheers guys.

Do not know about the CC but I changed my head unit for one of these

There are lots of different ones the one I got was

As it keeps the climatronic functions and parking info. I also have the camera, but the one that replaces one of the number plate lights, so looks part of the car.

How do you rate that head unit john? details on site seem extremely good almost too good for the price, how does it respond, and overall quality etc

p.s sorry to hijack the thread

It is good, the bug with any non standard head unit is getting the radio antenna working I have found as well as the power injector you need an extra in line booster. Also the free Nav software you get is a bit old so updated it

It does not come up to the £1000 pound units but does all I want and more.

John

what year is your car?
