Amundsen plus retrofit

Featured Replies

Can anyone help!

I have replace the factory fit swing stereo with a Amundsen +. Simple instal and connected a GPS antenna. The Amundsen had East European maps built in so a got a western SD card but when I put this in it just reads Card error? I have put an SD card in with music on and it plays fine so SD reader is ok. Why won't it upload the Map data? Do I need to do something with VCDS?

It's needs the official skoda memory stick from memory, not a home made one

Where did you get the card, is it formatted correctly, has the data been copied on correctly. If you downloaded the maps via the skoda-auto.com website, then these maps are only compatible with the Octy MK3 headunits.

Theres a genuine skoda update card on ebay for £40 if thats any help mate

Id link it, but im on my phone so i cant really

AFAIK the update card can only be used on a single unit.  If someone has already used it to update another unit then it has been locked to that unit.

Thanks guys,

The SD cards were official Skoda ones. First one was the same part number as the navigation part built into the stereo but UK maps version. The second one was from Skoda dealer which I was told was brand new and this still failed. It was two years more up to date than the one I first used. If you buy the official SD cards they do not code to the stereo they are inserted into so I'am told by the skoda part department. When I took the swing stereo out should I have used VCDS to add 37 Navigation to the list or would this have already been there? And would this be causing the Maps not to load?

Thank you

The amundsen+ stereo came out of a Roomster I believe, all the other functions work including Bluetooth for the phone it's just the Maps. I have no MDI and no steering controls so that would not effect it. It's really annoying me as I thought it should just be plug and play

No this update website is for Oct mk3 or MIB Amundsen

But thanks for trying

oh

the units not the same then?

  • Author

No not the same. It's the new stereos fitted to oct mk3

Is it just a software difference?

It could be a software difference but I have no idea, how could I check and how do I resolve it? I used a new SD card through Skoda which didn't work then an older version off eBay. The stereo is an up to date one as it has the new badge on the start up screen
