Ref policy excesses - ring up Autoglass, tell them who you are with and ask them what their policy regarding Excess payments are.

In the last 6 years I've had 2 windscreen claims. Both times Autoglass "paid" the excess for me, did all the claims paperwork and it didn't cost me a penny.

No effect on the premium or NCD either.

(1 claim was with More Than, the other with Direct Line)

And of that £2000 the amount due to incidents on the M5 was...

While you may have to declare a glass claim, I've never had any premium raised or other longer lasting consequences from doing so.

Not all company's are bothered by glass claims but some are starting to ask the question.

I have never had a my premium go up either in fact I have never had I go up for accident claims or theft claims either.

I have never had a premium go up when adding points but it could.

A lot of insurance company's allow lets say 3 claim in 2 years before your NCD starts to be affected. They may start to include glass claims within that count.

Not true. Windscreen claims are not counted, unless you're having 10 a year or something. And £50 to fit the new windscreen? Bet that's a good job

How do you know they are not counted. They get charged plenty for them.

And why would £50 to fit a screen result in a poor job. Its not a long job to do and the sealant is not very expensive.

I bought the screen from the local dealer and they got the fitter in they use who did it in there workshop.

He has no overheads so wont overcharge not like the rip off national company's.

When I asked Auto glass for a price they came in at something like £570 and the glass on its own was around £400.

They did not have one in stock and it would take 4 days to get it.

So I called Skoda and the glass was £160 plus vat and in stock the next day.
