what tyres to fit these alloys

Featured Replies

215/40/18 or 225/40/18 will be fine

225 40 18

Minimal choice for 215/40/18

Ud have poss a sneaky stretch on a 8 but not much

225/40/18 on a et35 is spot on for a good fit and lots of choice ;)

I run a 205 40 18 on my 8j 18" porsche wheels. Does knock the speedo slightly but not enough to worry about. And it does give a nice little stretch.

At last.  Some-one fitting the correct size tyres for the wheels.  Rather than a 'nice little stretch' -  or to put it another way; fitting the wrong size tyres.

Stretch kills,true story.

Stretchy stretchy :)

I do like how they sit lol

But...... That me :)

Marmite stuff again

Although iirc doesnt a 205/40/18 actually have more wall than a 225/35/18 and defo 215/35/18

So messes with the speedo less ;)

If u ready the rating on a 225/40/18 falken fk453 tho its says fitment 7-9 then in brackets a 9.5 lol ( iirc )

Hear, hear.

Personally, I find the whole idea of doing something because it looks good, yet performs like absolute crap on a semi-performance vehicle just plain dumb...

To me it looks plain stupid too. All wrong from an engineering point of view. My OCD will not allow my eyes to accept it. :D

Personally I don't see the harm with a "nice little stretch" :D

Yes there are people out there who do run stretched tyres to the absolute limits which could be deemed as unsafe but if it's done to allow extra clearance then fine I say.

I don't find mine to have altered the performance/handling of the car at all and hold fine pushing on in the corners.

I suppose that at the end of the day it's all down to personal preference and taste

Those alloys look good but also look like kerb catchers .

All I will say is that they are getting refurbed :D

Cheap tyres kill, fact! When buying tyre don't forget that's the only thing between you and the road.

Fact based on?

Never spent big money on tyres, all my cars driven hard & I'm still here!

Biggest load of crap out. Only thing to blame is the driver.

You're more than welcome to try these almost new tread (but about 8 year old) cheap Chinese Doublestars that I have on a set of old Golf wheels.

Then you'll find out just how dangerous and unpredictable cheap crap rubber can be.

I wouldn't let anybody fit this set of wheels without warning them sternly beforehand. They caused a very low speed accident for me in the wet, and even knowing what they were like I still had 3 or 4 other "moments" whilst being particularly cautious.

Utter killers, I tells ya. Though the age of the rubber may well have more than a little to do with it...

The age and condition maybe a factor but I have never and will never buy a tyre for it's name or price.

16 years driving and never once have I had a tyre fail me or cause me any issues.

Op is buying decent ones apparently so where did that statement come from?

And especially not now I've got a "nice little stretch" :D
