Upgrading Monte Headunit

Featured Replies

Evening,

I'm looking for a little advice from someone who has a bit more knowledge than me about upgrading the standard head unit in my Monte Carlo to something more functional.

Mine came with the SWING headunit, while it does the job, I would like Bluetooth and a possibly a Sat-Nav combined unit.

I have been looking into this uint:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kenwood-Multimedia-Receiver-Built-In-Bluetooth/dp/B00BFQ587S/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1393522989&sr=8-3&keywords=double+din+car+stereo#productDescription

What else would be needed (Facia adaptor, loop wire, ariel adaptor?), and where would I get it from? I would be getting a professional audio company here in Glasgow to fit the unit, so just need the parts. I use to be confident in fitting head units into my first car, but don't want to be mucking about with the Monte.

Also would it be easier to purchase a Columbus or similar Skoda made head unit, and would it just slot in with no tinkering?

Thanks for reading,

Stu.

I would personally go for the Columbus Head unit, If you have the maxi dot clocks it may need some coding tweaks for the sat nav function etc.... But IMO think the columbus overall would look better than after market head unit :)

I don't have the Maxi-Dot clocks, so thats all good on that part.

I would be planning on removing it if I ever do sell my Monte in the next few years, to put the SWING unit back in.

Has anyone else got any advice at all, that has maybe upgraded the unit in their Fabia their self?

Cheers.

Depends how much you want to spend.

If i was doing it, id have a kenwood in there, sat nav, sd slot, touch screen n the lot. Alot better value for money than an upgraded skoda headunit with the same output power and quality as the swings
