Fabia vRS in Auto Express "warm hatch" group test

Featured Replies

It amazes me that the Furby was 15th in 2004's greatest drives with the cooper nownere to be seen, yet now the cooper's best ever.

Make your minds up Auto Express!

For me it doesnt matter what car comes top is some poll. I am 18, but I drive a fabia v/RS and have no complaints whatsoever. Its a great car.

LOL

I wonder what they mean by "erm..." for the bad bits.

erm... because it's a Skoda  or

erm... because they can't think of any bad bits.

What do ya reckon? :D

It seems to fair quite well and they can't think of any negatives!

the badge hence its not at the top

I think erm means that they can't think of any bad bits! :)

How come 3rd with no bad bits?????

Oh well, don't care wot mags think, they tend to be overcritical, and have favourite marques any way.

It is from this months Test drive magazine, Auto express must be their sister magazine and has pinched the results.

Just been looking at the article and the Fabia VRS pictured was the self-same one that i had when i took a test drive.....How cool is that?!

Lucky that you'd run it in before this test then, eh Mike? ;)

I certainly did

erm?....probably means 'We can't actually find anything at all wrong but its a got a Skoda badge so we have to make some token sarcastic comment about that under our breath don't we?

Unsupportable results for a Skoda ? As yourself this question : "How much money does BMW et al throw at motor mags per year and how much does Skoda ?". Very few of the motor mags are truly objective. Just understand that and be thankful you drive something very good AND rather exclusive, (where I live there are lots of new BMW 6 series, Porsche Cayenne's, E's, CLK's etc, but only two Fabia vRS). If the mags always rated Skoda as best everyone would have one and then who would we laugh at ?

Let's just say the MINI we have as a pool car is considered the worst car 'in our pool' - i.e. it has broken several times, and although it definitely looks nice® it's not a nice car for long journeys.

I've not driven it myself, this is based on others who were moaning like mad about it...

I don't mind the Furby isn't number 1 ;) - TBH all I care about is that I'm happy with it :D

Wish our pool cars were as bad! We've got a Corolla D4D and a Focus TDCi. Both the two worst cars I have ever driven :thumbdwn:

Surprised the focus is that bad tbh - not as quick as the PDxxx ones perhaps but not too bad :)

It's not embarrasingly slow (100bhp one) but it just does everything with a great degree of mediocrity.

Funny you should say that - Apart from the ST models that's how I see the focus these days :)

That stated it's probably still one of the best handling cars of that size, shame it's hooked up to an engine that doesn't quite make the best of it :(
