Getting Pressurised to sell - how could I ?

Featured Replies

I was parked today at the wife's place of work and when I went to my car their was a chap Admiring my car - well actually taking pictures and speaking to his mate about it on the phone.

Said he had heard about my car (must have a reputation!!) and was really impressed.

I relayed this to the Mrs as to remind her what a great and appreciated car it was to which she replied that "Of course he likes it he is much younger than you"

Oh well I had better get a set of cushions for the back parcel shelf!!!

  • Send Bossfox a pm, don't think he's bought a car in the last 24 hrs! Think he might like that one back! In all seriousness, after what you have just spent, it should now be cheaper to run, so keep it

The wife is pressurising me to sell for a "Sensible" car.

How could I ?

She said I am spending too much on it - admittedly the recent engine and turbo was a bit of a blow but....

What should I do???

Simple answer, you could NOT!

What you should do is tell her to mind her own p's and q's.

If she must, then she can drive the family car, anything she wants, BUT, you must have your toy it's what you're all about, it makes you, you.

She can't change you, in fact why does she want to? Doesn't she love the man you are anymore?

Cars are wear and tear items, they break down , things go wrong, it's the nature of the beast.

Remind her you don't (delete as appropriate) drink, smoke, womanise, or spend all your time out with the lads.

You need a hobby! the car's it!

I agree, it's my indulgence and to be fair if I were to sell it I would regret it. Plus the fact after spending so much on the car it wouldn't be financially viable.

How do you get away with that plate Dazza?

So why not even things up a little..........she's clearly feeling left out of the loop  :)

SE09 FAB?

It's the correct and legal plate for the car.

If you do a DVLA vehicle enquiry it shows the car as a 2009 registered Skoda, which it is. :)

Life is over.

I've done a few thousand miles in one of those Citroen things, (ex lady friends company car) & they are terrible!

Soggy suspension, too-soft seats & crappy 2.0 litre diesel, + the worlds worst manual shift.Octy vRS

A Fabia vRS wouldn't be my 1st choice but I'm surprised that your good lady finds it to be too quick.

SWMBO, is probably just a decade or two older & she loves her tweaked Octy vRS to bits, & wouldn't want to own anything

small & slow!

What about a 250(ish)bhp one? ;)

Oh right. I understood them to all have been 2007 registered. And with mine being #179 and his only being #201 I didn't realise there would have been that much of a time gap.

My bad :)

2007 manufactured and numbered, but this one must have sat in a dealers for a couple of years before being registered with DVLA ;)

Exactly, I am a previous keeper of the vehicle.

It was made around May 2007 I believe and say in a London Dealer's showroom as a display model for over a year before being registered in March 2009.

I believe it to be the last ever registered mk1 Fabia.

DVLA records show one or two in the same time frame, but none of them have ever been seen on here.

Pm me if you think about selling please ;-)

I think the chap in the post above may be first in line :giggle:

If you mean the current shape Fabia, we both think that it's a little ugly, too tall / skinny & feels unpleasant to drive.

(Based on one round trip from a dealer near you to Maldon Tesco in a vRS, not conclusive of course but bad enough for madam to reconsider

her choice of car, which as you know is an Octy FL vRS.)

But, if you are referring to the earlier model, as in your current collection, I might be persuaded to think differently.........

(250 bhp, 2.0 TSi perhaps, if can be made to fit or a tweaked diesel?)

Maybe when it comes to it I will have to do an auction
