FABIA 1 NEVER ENDING CENTRAL LOCKING PROBLEMS ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

As you will see from my previous posts i have been having problems with the central locking on 2001 fabia estate, door locks.

I did get repair kits and intend to do myself, but put into garage who used to be skoda main agent, they rebuilt the locks, very expensive i thought, i supplied 1 repair kit, they had to get 1, sum total of almost £200.

To the point, all was fine, until today, heavy rain, went out to car, WINDOWS FULLY OPEN !!!!!

Please help whats going on here, interior soaked through.

I have booked it in for tomorrow, they say they are going to put a fault code reader on it, they asked if the key was bent, or if i had sat on it ????

Please help

Sitting on a key won't open the windows on a MkI Fabia.

Stupid statement from a authorised repairer !!!!!!

Sitting on a key won't open the windows on a MkI Fabia.

They also asked if the key was bent? Surely that wouldn't have any bearing whatsoever on the windows going down either?!

I had the same problem on a Polo I had before my Fabia.

.

The lock mechanism was gummed up with crud, and so the pins in the barrel would always be in the open position. This meant just turning the barrel with anything, the car could be locked or unlocked. The spring in the lock was also worn, so that when locking or unlocking, the lock wouldn't return to the vertical position without a bit of help.

If the lock is held in the open position, all the windows would drop.

It didn't take much for the lock to accidentally stay in the open position, and come to find the windows open.

The locks have all been rebuilt with new parts, so it shouldn't be this.

Going back tomorrow, will post what they find.

All i know is, on the drivers door the bottom screw is not there, and when i got near home after collecting the car, i heard a clunk and something drop inside the door

I think they have made a balls up !!!!
