Well as in the title I lost the key to my fabia I was down at the beach with the dog as I got a early finish from work,I walked some distance down the beach then I turned back to go to the car then that's when it hit me the keys gone I frantically walked up and down the beach but the tide was coming in fast to so it's gone......on the plus side I have a spare which my lass dropped off but I have issues with it I can use it to get in and drive the car but the remote of the key does not work I put a new battery in it but still no joy I have been told it needs recoded to the car and this can be done for £25 for a local key store near me.The point I'm really getting at has anyone had this issue with there key?

If you need a new key there is a guy on here doing key cuts and coding for a reasonable but cheaper than the dealers price, he travels to certain areas and the people split his fuel costs. It should be in the group buy section.

Head on over to http://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/23-diagnostics-vcds/ and see if there's anyone local to you who has VCDS.  Unless I'm mistaken VCDS can do the recode for you and the members who've put their details on the list are happy to help out (I'm one of those members btw.).  If there is someone local to you just send them a PM asking for help.
