Faulty wipers VRS

Featured Replies

My wipers only work when they want to!

Rear wash wipe is ok and front wash just no wipers.

Having read all the threads re wipers I have done the following

Changed both fuses.

Checked the motor on a dc supply it works.

Now if I bang the dashboard above the fusebox sometimes it starts working.

Is there a hidden relay somewhere that could be sticking?

I need to fix the car soon as I'm having to drive the wifes TT and that's not good for the image, not to mention that even with 180bhp its slow.

Yes, checked doesn't that only affect intermittant wipe?

I have no wipers at all.

no it affects wipers working altogether. The bonnet thinks its open. If the bonnets open the wipers dont work.

the wiper motor itself can fail. Check live at the motor.. make sure u push the catch down with a screwdriver to engage it so it thinks the bonnet is shut. Check live when the wipers are on. If there is a live there chances are the fault lies with the motor. If there is NO live then it could be the switch.. obviously check ALL fuses first. Not just the one you think is for the wipers ;)

OK its now fixed.

As I suspected and after testing there was only one fault it could be:

It was the wiper control module. :(

Had to put it into my local indy garage and am now £540 poorer

Module alone is £275 plus vat!

Still at least I have my car back.

Why is there a switch to stop the wipers working if the bonnet is open? Is it to stop the wipers hitting the bonnet?

Hope my wipers don't pack-up, just looking at the charges gives me the E-BEE G-BEE'S.. LOL
