What's this part?

Featured Replies

Can anyone please tell me what this part is called in the boot of my Octavia hatchback?

It's at the right-hand side as you look into the boot from behind and it's broken. There's also a metal bar that's supposed to run across the top of it but that's fallen off. Searching for nets on eBay just produces lots of huge nets...

Thanks,

Nick

Hello,

It's a (broken) storage cubby/net thingy. There should be a metal bar which runs across the top which holds the netting in place.

They are pretty vulnerable & not very robust & I'd be willing to hazard that a good 50%  - if not more - of these in cars belonging to forum members are in a similar state.

The one on my previous Octavia was already knackered when I got the car & the one in my current car is clinging to life but it's not in the best of nick..  :mmm:

Yes, that's the thing!

Any idea where I might get a replacement and what it might be called?

As I said, if I Google (or eBay) for "skoda octavia boot net" I get all sorts of other things but nothing that looks like that.

Thanks! That's got me on the right track now. Much appreciated.

I think you're going to find it is part of the whole panel. When I fitted a towbar I took out the panel. It connects to plastic fitting inside the panel connecting it to the boot. It is not removable since the plastic is heat welded/melted to the panel.

Mine broke and I fixed it by drilling holes in the top of the plastic and then pop riviting through it to secure the metal bar. There are holes in the metal bars that accept the rivet.

Ah ok, that makes sense. I've already had the drill to the car once already (fitting a socket to plug my phone into the AUX of the Stream MP3 stereo) so I'm sure I could manage to have another go with it...

THANKS!
