Auto Mk1 Octi Doesnt Start In 1st Gear..

Featured Replies

my octi mk1 refuses to start in 1st gear and takes forever to move off. To add to that when it does move it is only changing between to gears. Diagnostic test have been ran n computer flashed but the problem is still there....

Any suggestions??

Do you mean you put the selector in position 1 and then try to start it?

If that is what you mean then it is not supposed to.

With an auto you start it in Park or Neutral only.

Try depressing the clutch :giggle:

As mentioned, Auto's only start in P or N.

Sorry, I should been more specific with the problem. When you start the car in P, its starts but i meant when you go to move off in D it is very sluggish in doing so, because the transmission is starting a higher and when it does move of it is only shifting between two gears.

Has the transmission oil level been checked?.

Does it have a "winter" setting ?  -

I would check the transmission oil and start by changing it. Not sure on how octavia autoboxes work but there might even be a filter in there to change aswell

Oil and filter change after a fault code check.

You need diagnostics such as VAG COM (VCDS) to set the oil level correctly.
