Which bits off a vRS do I want on my TDi estate?

Featured Replies

As per the title really, I've got a 1.9 TDi Elegance Estate and have bought a vRS Estate to use for parts. So far I have swapped the tailgate (for the spoiler), front bumper, rear bumper (for exhaust cutout) and I'm on with the brakes (front + rear) and the interior.

Is there anything else I should be taking off the vRS before I let it go? As there are different coilovers etc listed for vRS/TDi I'm guessing the suspension must differ somehow........is it worth swapping and what should I be swapping? Not fussed about the FARB if it's different to the TDi one as I'll be putting uprated ones on front and rear any way.

But if anyone can think of anything else I should grab while I have a whole car, please let me know.

Also if anyone could make use of a fairly tidy black vRS Estate, done 93k, runs well and had new clutch last year, then let me know, obviously it will be missing all the parts as above, but could come with the bits from my TDi as replacements if that helped.

Thanks guys.

Yes but the carriers and hubs are different so you need to swap the whole over.

Wow! Took a peek at your pics in your gallery, that looks stunning mate, nice work. Not seen it on here before, what have you done with the headlights? Great looking car mate.

Uh-oh......does that mean it's not as straight forward as swapping over the discs and calipers/carriers?

I understand from a helpful member on here that the front suspension differs in that the Tdi setup carries more weight, is that just the spring rates or does anyone know if any of the rest of the front end differs somehow?

The carriers are part of the hub, so you have to change the whole lot in order to fit bigger discs.

Thanks mate, and will the hubs just swap over or are there any other differences?

I'm not sure, I think it a straight swap.

I think i recall from looking on vagcat for part numbers that the ARB, ARB mounting position, and droplinks are different from Tdi to VRS too,

though im far from an expert...
