Boot issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I've been having a few intermittent issues with my boot failing to open.

The motor fires, but doesn't release the catch straight away

Any ideas?

Had this on mine mate, I slackened off the bolts on the catch on the actual boot and the closed it and got someone to rest against the outside gently. I then went into the boot through the back seats and tightened the bolts up and worked fine from then on.

Thanks mate, I'll have a go :)

I had this on mine, Charlie. I removed the lock (2 min job) cleaned the contacts with WD-40 on the plug and the socket, some more WD on the latch. Been fine since.

Awesome thanks Lee :)

Awesome thanks Lee :)

Forgot to mention, the pins in the plug were slightly corroded too so I scraped the crud off them :)

Mine started being a bit hit and miss.   Took the electric motor / striker plate thing out,   the motor/plunger thing sounded very weak.   Sprayed a bit of wd40, and it sounded a bit better, but still fairly weak.

Bit the bullet and bought a brand new unit from skoda/vw,  think it was £30-40 a few months back.

I did similar to Lee, except I took the switch from the lid, split, cleaned and slightly bent the "tab" on it. Been no problem for last 18 months.

Downside to this is that you have to remove the trim from the tailgate, refitting of same is a bit of a b*tch.

Same problem with mine. I find if you push on the boot as you use the handle it works

Sprayed it with wd40 and all has been well :)
