New Octavia 4x4

Featured Replies

Just got the brochure for the new 4 X 4 and I can feel a bit of a purchase coming on. My only concern is with the deisel engine only been 105bhp as I want it for towing a caravan. Has anyone any experience with this engine ?

Also looked at the Kia Sorento and X3 but they are both between 5k and 10k more than the octavia my only concern is the power or are there any tweaks ;) available yet for these engines.

Cheers

Ian

Ian,

I tow a Swift Challenger with a 110TDi without any problems and I can maintain 60mph on any motoway hill in top gear. With a tuning box fitted towing is really effortless at 60mph.

The 105bhp PD engine has more torque than the old 110 so I'm sure you will be fine.

And if you want a bit more a Dragon Tuning box will give you around 130bhp and 220lbft.

Cheers for that wonder what delivery there on at the moment - might have to give Rainworth a buzz

Sounds like you are local then. I live near Kings Mill Hospital. :)

On the sand quarry at Berry Hill bought my octavia vrs from Rainworth ( black with 18" rs4) but got a better deal on a 320d when I came to swap it last year. Will be swapping wifes rav4 for octavia

I know your area well, all my old mates live or used to live up Berry Hill way. The Oak Tree was virtually my local (Before I got Married. ;) )

Still drive up that way alot as I go to Bannatynes Health Club two or three times a week.

To be honest I've found Newshome at Nottingham to offer better deals than Rainworth. It'll be worth playing them off against one another.

If you are worried about the Power have a chat with Jabbasport, my wifes 110Tdi is now knocking out 164bhp after they mapped it. It was mapped at 10000 miles & has now got 85000 on the clock & still runs perfectly. Also the mpg improved by a couple of miles after the remap. It gets driven fairly hard, she tends to accelerate hard & cruise at about 85 the average mpg is around 55 mpg.

Im not saying you will neccesarily need to remap the car but at least you can be reassured there is a safe & workable option should you find the car is underpowered when you get it. Remember with Diesels they have loads of lovely torque & thats what gives them the Grunt. The New Audi le mans car is strongly rumoured to be a Diesel.

We also have a 2002 4x4 Petrol Octy & I can confirm that the transmission is fantastic, the car has been tweaked to 250 bhp & even on the track with the ESP (traction control) switched off there is hardly any indication of wheelspin, it just grips & goes :):):)
