4 New Tyres Needed

Featured Replies

Hi, I need 4 new tyres on my fabia, 205/45 R16 83W size. I like to use ETYRES and they have 6 premium brands avalible. Quiet running is a priority so the Dunlop Sportmaxx RT and GoodYear Eagle F1 look to be the best, any thoughts what I should go for or is there another make I should be considering , Thanks David.

I highly recommend the Goodyear Eagle F1, is it the asymmetric 2 version by the way? Either way I have driven both on my old mk1 vrs which is the same size and they are awesome tyres, they steam nicely after a spirited drive in the wet as well.

They are called GoodYear Eagle F1 GSD3

I have been unable to obtain the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 in the 205 40 R17 size for the vRS. There is some doubt as to whether Goodyear will be producing any more in this size. The Michelins Pilot Sport 3 is a good alternative, if a little expensive.

The OP is after 205/45 R16's.

The Goodyeas F1 Assy 2's I have on the Passat and they are superb wet and dry but the GSD3's have very poor fuel rating in most sizes and usually rated poor for wet grip in group tests.

The Dunlop's I've had on the BMW, not bad in the dry but not great in the wet and wear rates were high.

Cheers

Lee

Dunlop BluResponse or Sportmaxx (RT?)

Dunlops are fine on my Monte (I know it's a different size) - I'm looking at a wide range and have used Black Cirles and Event Tyres for comparison.

+1 for black circles

My Fabia Estate runs on Goodyear Eagle F1 Assy 2s and they are superb - better dry grip than my previous Uniroyal Rainsport 2s and definitely quieter (wet grip perhaps better on the rainsports). However they aren't as quiet as the Michelin EnergySaver+ tyres that I'm currently running on my fiat 500. These are probably the quietest tyres I've used thus far and pretty good all-rounders.

Thanks everyone i will continue to look a round and see what is avalible

Yes I realise that. It appears that only 205/40 R17 Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2s are a problem to obtain at the moment (if you happen to have a vRS). Black Circles and others are listing them in 205/45 R16. The AS2s have had excellent reviews.
