Intercooler Clean

Featured Replies

Will the Mr muscle turbo cleaning method work for cleaning the intercooler?

If not, what's the best way to clean it?

I have the oil leak at the bottom pipe in my vRS and would like to take it off and clean before outing new seals on.

Thanks.

No, Mr Muscle will destroy the aluminium.

Get a washing up bowl with warm soapy water and an old toothbrush to get most of the crud off.

If there is still a load of gunk, use a can of carb cleaner and give it a good brush in.

Jetwash maybe?

Jetwash maybe?

Thats bold init. Make sure you dont do it outside your house as you'll have oily s##t everywhere. I done it once, took longer to clean the surrounding area than it did taking everything appart.

Take it off the car

A hose and a can of carb cleaner

:)

another vote for carb cleaner, or even some degreaser like gunk might do

Thanks for the replys guys.

I'll try the carb cleaner at the weekend as I need the car day to day for work.

Anyone know how much a replacement side mount is from the dealer?

Carb/gunk then hose out with water until clear then leave for a couple of hours and to be safe hair dryer one end for 10-15 mins

Refit

Let car idle 10-15 mins

Should be good to go at that

Screwed my boost pipes together and thought why not, I'll give it a clean today

No it's not broke form what I can see, just can't be sure it's clean inside.

I'll give it a clean at the weekend and go from there.

Might as well get some new seals and do those while I have it off the car.
