I Think They Made A Mistake !

Featured Replies

When Skoda built my car (1.6 Tdi DSG) I think they made a mistake & put a 2.0 litre engine in !

I say this because, at the risk of receiving sarcasm in response, my car goes like the proverbial off a shovel, with more than enough grunt to overtake quickly with confidence that "it'll make it" !

To those that say "he can't be used to powerful motors", look at my "Previous Cars" thread -I've had a fair few in my time, and genuinely believe this engine is a belter, giving 50 plus mpg to boot !!

I'd agree, my goes equally as well as any 2.0lt TDI's I've driven over the years, unfortunately I think they have accidentally fitted sports suspension as well because the ride is quite firm and crashes through potholes.

I totally agree,...I've got a thread going about my VRS TSI engine feeling a lot quicker than it should,..........perhaps they've put a higher software map on the ecu's??

Yes I can see where your coming from, I drove a 1.6 D2 Rdesign volvo a few days ago and thought it was decent off the mark but it died in 4th

My new vrs tsi is going for a rolling road test in June so I will see what its kicking out

I'm sure it's just perceived speed. Will still be nippy but may feel faster than it actually is

Obviously you know this, i'm not trying to be condecending (or whatever...) but Depending what your coming from, its not only powe, the weight is a big thing too. I've come from a Mondeo, yes technically a model bigger than the Octy, but it was over 400KG heavier than the Octy with a marginally less powerful engine.

1200kg is quite light for a reasonably big car with 150bhp and 320 torque (Nm or lb/ft, dont remeber which), never mind having a more powerful VRS engine.

I test drove a 1.6tdi octy and it seemed only the tinyest bit slower than my 2.0tdi mondeo.

I agree some of it is percieved speed though. I was following a diesel Fabia the other day (not sure on engine size, but accelerated hard from about 15mph to 60mph and it had identical acceleration. Was a little disheartening as my car had felt very quick until then

I always felt our 2010 Octavia 1.6TDI with the DSG was surprisingly fast.

Then I am mostly running solo.

The DSG and the 1.6TDI seem to be very well matched.
