EPC (?) light on then off

Featured Replies

This light (EPC?) popped up a few days ago on my octy:

I splashed out £8 on a fleabay cable to see what fault codes got thrown up, as I believe this light comes on for a variety of reasons. Of the three fault codes that came up, one disappeared today after the light had turned itself off. The code that disappeared was '16955', which (according to what I googled) indicated a brake light failure...? The brake lights were working throughout the process though (checked).

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what caused the light and fault code (which I am assuming were linked) to come on? And is there anything I can/should do as a pre-emptive measure to prevent it from re-occurring?

These can suffer from the brake light switch being dickie. But that would interfere with the lights too.

if its only happened once it may not be a major issue, i would just label it a feature.
