1.6 TDI not using ANY engine oil

Featured Replies

Well only negligable, it might, just might, amount to the hi-low difference on the dipstick over the 18,000 miles between services, cept I ud put a dreedle in half way to bring her back up to the max.

At the current rate the litre of expensive 507 spec oil is going to last for 200 or 250,000 miles.

So, actually, not expensive at all.

Well engineered.

I've got 35,000 miles on mine, it's had two services, I've used no more than 0.2 litre in topping up

Great little engine

I've not had a VAG car ever that's needed topping up between services and all of them were diesels.

It's possible, though, that diesel is leaking into the oil through DPF regenerations. It's not that uncommon, but I haven't heard of being a serious problem in VAG diesels.

So if some VAG group petrols consume excessive lubricant.

Does this then make them honorary diesels?

I change the oil every 15k.

Their have some people that had the oil light show up at around 20k , they just added some.

Maybe engines today consume less oil doing 15k than the oldest engines. What now I do at 15k on my other car I do it at 10k, no more and this using 100% sintectic oil.

As for the oil 507, it's becoming cheaper by the day.

Around 50 to 70€ I can get some from anymake.
