How much do you pay for Sky and broadband?

Featured Replies

We cancelled Sky at Christmas. We bought a Now TV box for £9.99 for the catch-up channels. Don't miss Sky one bit.

Try the old "I am leaving line" to get a deal.

I ended up getting a friends and family deal with Virgin, £55 all TV other than sports(though I do get BT sports "free") and movies, 120 meg broadband(soon to be 150 meg) and phone.

Just tried signing up for Virgin's 50% VIP package only to be told it's for new customers only and was patronised by customer services.

I complained on their Facebook page and told to complete a form - which doesn't work.. So was told to email them.

I emailed them a long statement about how I was dissatisfied and cc'd CEO of Virgin Media and Richard Branson.  Hopefully someone will read it.

It'll be interesting to see if this works.

In a similar vein, we bought a made to measure blind from Laura Ashley a couple of years ago and the first one they supplied was the wrong size (their mistake), the next one was appallingly made and so we returned it. Their customer services then proceeded to tell us it was "within tolerances" and they weren't prepared to make another one and did we want it returned.

After a week I emailed their Chief Exec and told him I thought the quality of the item was appalling and that I'd be quite prepared to let the media know of this and in less than a day I had a phone call from his PA and within a week we got our new, correctly made blind. So the direct approach can work!

we pay £25 a month now for unlimited internet + phone and anytime calls inc rental.

Never had Sky. But I do have Lovefilm/Amazon Prime. I don't really watch TV anymore except for on the catchup.

If you're not really using Sky then bin it. £100 a month is a lot for something you hardly use. If you are looking for a discount then you'll have to go through the disconnection process. The Disconnection teams are often the only ones with authority to issue discounts.

SWMBO been on the phone to sky today and they said yes we can cut the price but you'll lose this and that ect . We pay extra to have sky in another room for the 6ft 4'' yoof plus his boxing sport channel, movies, live pause , catch up ect ect. I'm sure he's ordering those dodgy adult movies which could be bumping the bill up lol!

Anyway it has been decided things will continue as they are as life won't be worth living without the full sky package.

I'm also happy as I now have full coverage of my beloved Moto Gp for £82 through Dona online with lots of extras you won't see on BT sport.
