Revo Map

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Looking for some advice, I have a Scout 1.8TFSI that is 11 months old with 8000 miles on the clock, I am looking to get it remapped. I have been looking at both Shark & Revo. I have seen multiple posts both good and bad for Revo but my big problem is that I live in Jersey. The local Revo cost for stage 1 would from their website (he hasn't quoted me yet I'm off to see him on Sat) be £449.

I have been quote for a Shark remap at £449 also but the problem with the Shark one is that due it being a Scout I have been told I have to take the car to Mansfield. By the time I include a return boat trip from Jersey 2 x overnight stays 4-5 of driving each way and at least 1 tank of fuel, food etc I'm looking at around £1000.00 if not a little more.

Would it really be worth it or should I go for the local Revo map, I don't know of any other reputable firms on Jersey that do re-mapping or at least I haven't found anyone yet

Cheer for your help

Andy

Revo have always been good in my opinion. There's loads of good tuners around the mainland. If I was going to be travelling over then I'd head for performance torque in Birmingham or Corten-miller in Lincolnshire. The latter being a revo dealer.

I have a 2011 1.8tsi 4x4, as I understand it the ecu can't be flashed through the obd port. It requires removal of ecu and bench flashing.

I am not happy to do this while in the warranty period.

Has the situation changed now? Can revo or shark flash the ecu through the obd port?

You may want to consider this as a potential expense on top of the remap whilst still in warranty period.

I will be more at ease once my warranty expires and will most likely remap come what may... :-)

This ECU needs to be bench flashed first time, i.e taken out of the car.

Shark did mine for Stage 1, then for stage 2, I got the Revo map through OBD port.

I remapped at about 7,000 miles, and I've done about 30.000 miles now on Revo, happy as a puppy.

Both maps are superb.

Thanks for the replies so far, regarding warranty I actually went for the 5 year extended warranty and have spoken to my dealer and they have said that they aren't too worried about re-mapping nowadays as it is almost common practice, the manager/director of the company that sold me the car said that they were even thinking about becoming dealers for someone and offering it as an option for when new cars are delivered from the factory.

I think I might be going for the Revo locally. I can then spend the £500 I save for either a Stage 2 or other Mods.

Cheers

Thats interesting. I have till November so may as well sit it out now!

I have shark up the road from me or plenty of revo agents about.

It's a nightmare choosing :-)

i just checked and Jerseys 5 miles long and 9 wide, where you going to use all this additional performance, give it a quick blast in any direction and you'll end up in the sea.... :giggle:  :giggle:

Yeah yeah I know, not only that but with around 150,000 register vehicles in Jersey the the road are quite congested. I rented a car in Australia a few years back and I even had to show here on Google maps that Jersey was a real place as she couldn't imagine living on a place so small, she even had the audacity to ask if i had ever driven at a proper speed!!!

However have two European trips planned this year and more for next year and maybe even some autobahn routes.
