What should I look out for? (Rover SD1)

Sod the SD1, buy the Solstad! Soooo much cool potential.

Already have one. A 9000 base. My dear sister just overdid her tweaks and it spit out the turbo. So its sitting in the corner of shame atm. Great bloody motor though. Not many Solstads have a 350-ish bhp engine in 'em.

As for the Rovers (Yes, there was two of them). I didn't buy them. The SD1 had a mouldy interior, and since I'm allergic to that **** I couldn't even sit in the car without choking. However he also had a decent looking 2200TC which, though it was a "rolling restoration", ran pretty sweetly until it ate the gearbox or the linkage. Didn't stick around long enough to check. It had a slightly rusted floor too, nothing too bad, but with the gearbox going it didn't feel like a safe buy.

Of well, back to the drawing board. I'm sure another SD1, or even a P6 (they're kinda growing on me) will show up eventually.

If you want to know about P6's, get yourself looking here: http://www.classicroverforum.net/index.php?sid=fe05aa16b7fe06850595f709cbbb21d7

Kinda know about them, but thanks. The P6s have that weird charm, I guess. Never really liked them because of the ****ty handling. My gf has one with the 3500 engine. Goes like a bugger but cant take a turn to save your life. Hers is slightly tuned though, used to be an EPC ages ago.

She's chucking it in wrong, Police spec springs and Spax adjustables make a difference (but it makes the ride a bit hard so I've got standard shocks back on) the De Dion lurch takes a bit of getting used to as well. That said it's no Mk1 Escort but I don't corner looking out of the side window in the Rover.

Mine is a crip shift with PAS as my left side sometimes doesn't work as well as it should, so it can be lazy pulling out of bends. I actually hate the damn things and never wanted one but I bought this one in 2010 due to its excellent condition and history. The weird thing is when I drive it I always end up laughing like an self abusing chimp, but when I'm not driving it I'm always looking for a replacement.
