I would be tempted to use the more expensive one on the basis buy cheap buy twice.

I rang today 22/03/2014 and they rang back to confirm that this kit CHA045 will fit front of my Fabia VRS 2005 MK1.

Fella did say there is no locking nut in kit, but they are about a couple of pounds, from Skoda.

The bearings come with a two year warranty, so placed an order.

Skoda price about £92 with locking nut, I think?

Have read ( 3 suppliers) one type of bearing hub only available for ALL Fabia's fitted with ABS brakes..

How did you get on with that eBay part? Think I might have a bearing starting to go too.

I know i'm probably wasting my time but buy a decent known bearing from a reputable supplier. The warranty may be two years but it won't cover the removal/fitting costs and trust me it's not the sort of job that you really want to do yourself, even with the Gen2 kit.

You will need a heavy press to push-out old bearing-hub assembly, and push the new hub-bearing assembly back-in.

So garage job, because of this..

I had a local garage do mine...

The independent garage also said, they could have supplied the same bearing assembly for £34.00 including VAT..

Suggest you approach the garage and ask for a price of the bearing-hub assembly replacement??

At least you won't have to second guess what correct hub-assembly to need..?

1) It's a Gen2 bearing, you can press it out, you should never press it in unless you have a suitable adapter for the press, that's why you buy a Gen2 tool or you'll be paying to have it done again sooner rather than later.

2) The only difference in Fabia/A2/Polo/Ibiza bearings is the ABS sensor ring in the ABS version which can be fitted to a non ABS car anyway. Other than that the whole range uses the same part afaik, same with the outer hub knuckle, even the non ABS car's have a hole for the ABS sensor.

The big no-no when installing Gen2 bearings, is pressing on the hub flange. If you do this, the bearing raceway is toast as you are effectively pushing on the inner race. You need to use a 'side-door' tool that presses on the outer race.

The bearring has been completely perfect, sorted the two horrible noises out and i really cant say anything bad about it, my mate fitted it at his garage for £20 and he had no complaints about it. So all in it cost me around £52 :) not bad seeing as the bearrings on eurocarparts were like £60-£80!
