Stream MP3 PIN Code

Featured Replies

Quick question, hopefully simple.

Am I right in thinking that VCDS can scan my car and retrieve the code? And the code can be retrieved via ELSA if I have the original car and stereo serial/chassis numbers?

However, if it is put in a different car, the code cannot be retrieved?

Just replaced mine and would need the code to sell it on (with the changer and aux socket). I have a friend with a licenced copy of VCDS (Genuine) and another that has ELSA access via Audi and can put the unit back in the car if needed. .

AFAIK VCDS can't read the stereo code.

It needs to be a dealer system that connects to Skoda HQ.

I paid £25 to get mine last year.

There are 'companies' on eBay who will do it for less and remotely using a serial number or something.

There are probably other ways of getting it as well.

No.

Not any more.

The dealer no longer has access to the codes. Anything like that is done from the factory over the internet. An Audi dealer may not be able to do it at all.

VCDS cannot read the code, the dealer no longer has access to the code either. its been done to try and stem the ever increasing number of VAG stereo thefts.

Essentially as long as the stereo is in the original car, then the online VAG system will activate the stereo without inputing the code. Audi do this free of charge with their current cars, not sure if skoda will.

So essentially, my Stream is completely useless without the code then? :D

My car has it stored (its been out a couple of times) so it was just needed to sell on. Never mind!

There will be companies who can extract the code but not a dealer or someone with VCDS.

I assume if I go to one of those companies, I will need the long number?

What are the other numbers on this sticker, out of interest...?

SK number is needed to get the code;

Number starting 1K0 is the part number;

SW is the software version;

HW is the hardware version;

PD I don't know.

Back in November my dealer gave me the code, for free. So is always worth giving your dealer a squeeze first, sometimes you can be pleasantly surprised :) :)

The dealer can no longer get the code, they never see the code either. They plug the car into the VAS machine which talks to Skoda HQ and sends the radio serial number and car VIN. As long as the two match their records then the code is sent direct from Skoda HQ to the car and radio activates. If they don't match then proof of ownership of the radio is required, for example a VAT receipt which must be emailed to Skoda HQ for authorisation.
