aaaand YES ,the Bosch alternator is a direct replacement, same plug, just fitted it and runs good.

In my oppinion Bosch alternators are way better and way more reliable,my Valeo has under 100.000 miles and inside is very worn, the shaft is eaten.

But Bosch alternator came from a scrap car (God knows how many miles) and inside is like new,the shaft has allmost no wear.

just some FIY :)

Ah yes must have missed this topic, generally speaking there are only 2 fitments on vw group alternators, 3 lugs are on cars without power steering ( not all that common nowadays) and 4 lug, the offset spacing and mounting dimensions is the same wether it be from a 1.0 polo or a 2.0 tdi, the only things which differ is the plug type, pretty much all of them use a Dfm terminal now, diesels also have w terminal in some/most cases, and there is a few different pulley sizes 50mm 55mm etc, but you can swap them over if you can find the right spacers... Also some diesels have a clutch pulley too.

so yes, physically the alternator will fit the engine, just check the plug type and the pulley diameter.
