Scratches in Vinyl wrap

Recommended Posts

Somebody can maybe ask Skoda what is going on with cars supplied with Black Roofs as a Factory option.

& wrapped.

I have only seen ones that are painted with Black Magic, vRS's, and also a couple of Montes i looked close at,

other than ones wrapped after having been delivered to a dealer,

but it looks like there are ones with a Wrapped Roof as supplied new.

The Mrs will be getting on the blower to them tomorrow (god help them when she starts going....lol) not good enough really wrapped roof.....if it had been painted I'm almost sure I'd not be looking at a mark like this where u can see the red paint underneath the black.....as the painted finish would have absorbed the impact better, but now I'm left with something that I cannot do anything with, I'm also worried about water getting under the wrap.....ffs

If it is wrapped and has a wee nick from a stone chip and red is showing,

i would get a bit of black paint and drip that on the chip to seal the edge,

or Black Nail Varnish, only a ickle drip in, from a cocktail stick maybe,

Sorry to say, but some Black Painted roofs have had a very thin Colour Coat and have has the White show through, maybe not good Washing / Polishing, or maybe using car washes,

&

some that did not get bird poo off quick enough have had the Black stained though the lacquer/Colour coat.

So others with black painted roofs on Montes or vRS migh comment on their roof.

Painted or Wrapped from a Factory Order, and if any paint issues over time.

Well we do not know who ordered cars with Black roofs like a vRS Buyer, or it was one colour and someone put a black roof on.

A Monte Carlo comes with a Black roof as Standard,

so if wrapped that is wrong,

so someone needs to find out why,

was the Factory short of black roof bodyshells and some were wrapped, or what is the Jackanory.?

Skoda CEO Dr Winfried Vyland is quoted as saying on the Monte Carlos,

"We estimated we would sell 3,000. We ended up producing 20,000."

So we might find out if they rushed extras through the factory.

Got an answer back from the local dealership via email the guy in the workshop said that the roofs are painted but only after the cars are painted fully in wot ever colour u have chosen, me I find that hard to believe as the paint surface is still shiny and not keyed to except the top coat (black) and have told them this in my reply....and was also told that u can get a black magic paint stick for repairing it......for some this won't be a problem but to me it is.....as the whole standard of the car isn't really wot I expected it to be....a bit disappointed really... :(

First a dealership would need to have a Body/Paint Shop, and if they do,

no need for the Painters not to be Qualified & Professional Painters.

More likely they have vehicles go out to a Body Shop,

or Chips-Away or some other Mobile painter comes in.

So Location Location Location,

and not all Mobile/Franchised Painters have had only 1 weeks training, some are Time Served, Qualified & Professional Painters.

It's pretty small although because I know where it is I can see the red dot against the black roof from my upstairs bedroom....lol when I look close at it, it look as though the black has jagged edges like it torn off......mrs will be phoning SUK within the next day or so to see wot they say, I took the car out to one of my fav biking roads and it handled it very well putting a smile on me mush which I need at the moment, just to cheer me up.....:) don't get me wrong it's not as much fun as my 1200cc bike....;)

Hopefully Skoda will have the Roof Examined by a Paint Specialist and not a Mechanical Technician,

& Refinished if required by a Painter.

Obviously not to a Factory finish,

hopefully better than that, if you could mistake a painted roof for one with a Wrap.
