Fab Mk1 Front Brakes

Featured Replies

Is there an easy way of finding out which pads and discs I need to buy for my 2004, 1.2, 12V vehicle? There seems to be different pads (Teves, VW2, Lucas) and umpteen different sizes of discs available. I do know that my discs are vented and a pad has a wear indicator.

I'm sure dealers will know from their data bases but the spares are much cheaper from elsewhere. Thanks.

Could u not take your front wheel off and compare with the pics u see on line and compare with your brakes

Phone up your nearest Skoda dealer and give them your reg number. Ask for a price for a pair of front discs. When they've looked it up for you ask "are they 239mm or 256?"  and (if 256) "what's the PR number please?" Once you know this you can find all the part numbers you need from either Figure No. 61515 or 61616 here: http://www.partscats.info/skoda/en/?i=cat_vag_models&brand=sk&number=42&set=47&ein=2004&f=225&hauptgr=1234567890&hg=6. You'll see the PR numbers in the right-hand column of the details on each page.  The PR number pertaining to the front brakes may be listed among the options code information in the vehicle data in the service book, or the boot sticker.  In the case of our car, I couldn't find it.

Then bung the part numbers into eBay for best deals.

If you're feeling slightly more adventurous you could remove a front wheel and measure the disc diameter with a ruler. If it's 239 then there's only one part number option for discs, and pads with wear indicators. If 256 you'd still need to find out the PR number, to narrow it down further.
