Worth trying?

Featured Replies

While ago my HDD decided to commit Hari Kari. No problem thought me ,as I've got copies of almost everything, and a backup out of PC HDD. All went well till I tried Autoroute . The only copy I had refused to install . I tried everything, but to no avail . Then ,in desperation I tried a scratch removal paste I'd gotten from Aldi. Gentle rub of the course stuff, and then a gentle rub of the fine stuff, wash it off with meths and lo & behold ,I could read all of the files on the disc.

Worked for me- so it might work again .

I have always used the original "Brasso" liquid and a dusting cloth; CDs are easier to save than DVD because the data is less packed, so less is lost by surface damage. DVDR/DVDRW are often unsaveable due to the surface coating, even with fairly minor scratches that dont make a CD even hiccup..

Haha I used some G3 scratch remover on a DVD... it kind of worked in that I could watch more of it than I could before using the scratch remover but it didn't 100% cure the problem.
