Breakdown

Featured Replies

Hi

Just wondering if my Monte would have come with free breakdown cover, Skoda assistance I think. I got it new, 13plate in july. With the 3yr free servicing deal.

I can always phone the dealer on Monday but the thought crossed my mind and I want answers haha

I'm not in the situation that I need it, just something that came to mind as car insurance is due and they ask about breakdown cover.

Thanks

Think,it's standard on any new car? Mine has it with a little sticker on the top of the windscreen, defo didn't "ask" for it :)

It was certainly included with my new Fabia in February this year but I didn't get a little sticker though (sigh).

Also came with 3 years servicing - all part of the 0% finance package.

Yes, your Fabia has the following free breakdown cover. You should have information on that in the documents folder along with the Owner's Manual and Service Record booklets.

'If your SKODA’s in trouble, rely on SKODA Assistance

Completely free of charge, every new SKODA is covered by SKODA Assistance. This cover lasts for 3 years, with no mileage limit. So if you ever break down, you can use the freephone number to call out someone who really knows about SKODA cars to help. This service is even available in Europe, so you don’t need additional breakdown cover when you’re driving on the continent.'

As mentioned above, you DO have breakdown cover.  One piece of advice I would offer is to check VERY carefully what it involves. A friend of mine discovered at GREAT personal cost that some breakdown cover that came with his insurance was quite useless when he had a problem on a skiing holiday in the French Alps. Such insurance cover is sometimes not of much use in the event of a major problem when you are on holiday. May not be a problem with the Skoda cover but worth checking ;)

I got a card sent to me in the post to keep under the clip in the glove box, when I changed my registration over I phoned Skoda and advised them.

As for the issues mentioned by vxh26 it depends on where you breakdown, most motorways in Europe the Police have to arrange your recovery so you have to pay that and your recovery company can then recover you from where you are initially taken to, however I'm pretty sure that you can recover those costs.

I believe it's the same with the warranty if you make a claim in Europe, you have to settle the claim and then take it up with Skoda UK.

Thanks everyone.

I thought new vehicles came with cover but I don't have any documents. I'll check it out for numbers etc.
