Just gone to start my fabia vrs this morning, and it didnt start first time, second time the temperature gauge went right up, but it then started and went back down. Engine management light has come on and ive just taken it for a quick drive and you can hear a feint tapping noise when your in the car, but nothing when your looking in the engine bay (could just be me being paranoid). This noise doesnt get any louded under acceleration etc. No loss of power or anything yet, but I didnt take it far at all.

any ideas anyone? As I need my car everyday.

Sounds like the coolant temperature sensor is playing up.

Top tip

Buy a cheapo fault code scanner from ebay for £15-20.

You'll make the outlay back after your first fault. Helps no end with identifying issues. Cars are computers nowadays

I turned it on and off a couple of times and the light went off. Had a 20 mile drive and its stayed off, no loss of power, noises or anything unusual.
