Mid Life Crisis Over

Featured Replies

I get private plates as I prefer the private plate stigma to the latest reg stigma...

Adding real value, maybe not, but I never pay more than £500 for one in the first place, and it does give you an extra bargaining chip when it comes time to sell if it's a car specific one, or indeed just funny/interesting (I have HJ13 SUX on a car at the moment).

I was always told that if you're overtaking another vehicle or cyclist, you should indicate whilst doing so as the person you are overtaking is another road user?? -,....could be wrong here though and plus it's not a bad habit to get into, especially if it helps with the lane assist function?

Either way, I know on my lane assist that I can still override the cars decision with a slightly harder tug on the wheel.

I suppose if you don't like it, you've at least got the option to switch it off as you have.

Always indicating without considering the implications is wrong.  No need to indicate if no one will benefit.  Passing a cyclist and indicating will not benefit the cyclist.  What was the alternative to driving around him - driving through him?  Such an indication could also make someone waiting in a side turning in front of you and on your right think you are turning into that road (you are in the centre of the road indicating right!) - so they could expect you to slow down and hence pull out in front of you.  As the IAM suggest - intelligent indication - only indicate if some-one will benefit and definitely not if it can confuse.

I drove a car with lane-assist and hated it as I don't always indicate when pulling back into the lane to my left after overtaking on the motorways or dual-carraigeways.
