VRS delivery time now 22 weeks

Featured Replies

Just had a call from the dealer today to say despite the order being accepted during the 2nd week of Jan there is still no build week.

I've ordered a VRS Tdi DSG estate with a few extras and they are quoting lead time of 22 weeks at the mement which takes me to June. Apparently they have the same problem with Golf GTD's so it makes me think the engine supply is one issue given they are the same unit.

So frustrating given this will be my first Skoda after years of beemers, Audi's and VW's. A real let down but I guess I'm suffering the same as many others on here.

I ordered my VRS last October, picking it up on Friday, it's a long wait but I think it will be worth it.

Looks like things are improving, I had to wait 23 weeks for mine!  :giggle:

Hi, I have also ordered my first SKODA (Octavia VRS Estate) at the beginning of the month and I was told lead time of 24 weeks. A colleague at work, also ordered a VRS estate at the beginning of November 2013, and was also told lead times of 20 weeks. He has, up to now, not been given any build date yet! He is now seriously considering cancelling his order. I think I would be thinking the same if I was in his shoes.....

However, last week when checking in with the dealer, I was then told that my car was allocated a unconfirmed build date for end of April for delivery in middle May. That will surely be some kind of record on this forum if that car is delivered during May! Must say I did not buy that for one second…

I also drove past my local dealer today and there were many Octavia S's and SE's parked up in the yard and preparation areas but no sight of any VRS! What do we do when these cars do not turn up soon or if SKODA doesn’t attempt to communicate with their clients to give the necessary reassurance that things are moving in the right direction? Some sort of PR campaign to tell their clients how many VRS's they have sold to date and how many on order might put things in perspective, or are we just too eager to get our cars?

Elsewhere on here in the December orders thread SUK quoted somebody waiting for a VRS Estate a 'standard' wait of 28-weeks!

So what is true?

Why is there a wait?

My guess, and it is a guess, is its VRS bumpers/body parts due to the sudden demand. This seems backed up by some owners luckily enough to have received their cars, but unluckily enough to damage them waiting for parts.

BUT if this is the case why can't Skoda be honest?

I want to go elsewhere now but can't get as good a deal as I have from Skoda in terms of space/spec for similar monthly PCP rate.

MK3 vRS has only just been launched in Australia.  Skoda AU is controlled by VW AU so they are constantly being hobbled to prevent Skoda sales getting anywhere near VW sales.

Delivery times are being quoted as 5 months (23 weeks) which includes 4-6 weeks cruising & 2 weeks customs.  Skoda CZ have said that we are getting priority builds because Skoda AU haven't brought in any floor stock - only demonstrators that if the dealer sells them they have nothing to show new customers.  The demonstrators aren't the same spec as the brochures say - they are missing the vRS/mode button & the engine sound maker & something else that was supposed to be part of our standard fit-out.  Tech Pack isn't available until June.

Pricing is very keen though - about AUD4K less than a Golf GTI & heaps more std equipment.  Price hasn't really changed since Skoda's launch in 2007.

There are also issues with supply of the lesser models & whoever the product planner person is has faffed-up what mix of options to order so there are heaps of sedans when 80% of AU sales are wagons.  Entry level 90tsi Ambition is unobtainable & any wagonss with tech pack are unobtainable.

Seems the MK3 is way too popular.

I just picked mine up after ordering 7th November. It is most definitely worth the wait - hang in there!

Fiisch, hard to believe at the moment without any evidence(photos) !!!!

When I looked a new one the roll date for vrs was June. July delivery.

Hey Brad1.8T. Good info. I am in Perth and visited the dealer on Monday for a test drive of the new RS. I was impressed. Probably make an order this week.  I priced up a RS sedan 162 TSi/DSG  with tech pack, black pack 18" and metallic paint. As i recall price negotiated was around 44K drive away. About a 2K discount. Have not countered yet.

Anyway my main point.....Was told would need to get order placed in the next 10 days to lock in a week 22 build with an estimated delivery of late August - early September. Does that sound about right? Of course with noises from Skoda about an increased emphasis on RS builds at the factory it all could change.

Skoda have a habit of doing this, they NEVER learn from past experience, I had a 6 month wait for My FL Octy vRS & they have done the same with other models.

It is really bad when one of the senior people at the launch of the MK3 boasts that the UK takes the highest % of vRS sales in europe then fails to deliver the goods in a reasonable time.

Skoda seem to be VERY poor at prediction planning, as i have even heard on the grapevie that they have even had to ask for a uplift of UK allocation of the Yeti FL.

All the data they have & they still cannot get it right :(

I have seriously considered cancelling the order but as it's a company car I think it will cause too much hassle and I do really want what I have ordered as it is in a class of its own in terms of price/kit/space/performance/economy/emissions etc. Hopefully worth the wait!

I must be the odd one out.

Order placed 27/01 - VRS Tdi estate plus a few bits.

Picking it up on Saturday, so 9 weeks in total.

ooo you lucky lucky b******!!   ;)

I'm 14 weeks in since order, last time I spoke to the dealer I was provisional bw19.  that has been moving around, but if it stays as that, add at least 2 weeks for build and delivery...I'm looking at 22 to 23 weeks order to dealer delivery  (dealer then says 2 weeks for registration.... :wall: )

2 weeks to register a car, are they sending the forms through on snail mail (quite literary!)

Ian

I know, its awful, but that is what they say.  I'm hoping that is worst case and they can do it quicker,

Mine is sat at docks at Germany waiting to be shipped to sheerness dealer told me that it should be with me by 2nd week in April that's a 33 week wait !)

I ordered my VRS last October, picking it up on Friday, it's a long wait but I think it will be worth it.

Ordered my VRS hatch October 18th Received on 22nd March.

Please b patient it is worth it.

I have dumped my Transit connect on my better half and using the Vrs for work.

Cannot get enough of it.

Crazy time scales..my local vw dealer says vw GTD times are freeing up. But Vrs either tdi or tsi seem to be equally bad..

Update from my dealer is that they still expect to hand the car over to me mid April despite it not having a confirmed build date yet. I will be happy if this works out!

does anybody know, do the dealers need the car with them before they apply to register, or can they get the vin number and anyting else they need from SUK once its built and get the papers in earlier/once the thing is actually built?

I ordered mine 21st December, getting built this week so very excited! My build date jumped from 18 to 13.

You are indeed the odd one out so it seems, lucky man!

Been told by SUK today its 27-weeks. I ordered Nov 27th and it was accepted. They say I've waited 15-weeks but its actually 17-weeks. Apparent 2-weeks don't count over Christmas & New Year.

So I've got another 12-weeks which puts me mid-June plus getting to the dealer so probably early July!

The word from the factory is its lack of VRS parts, but in that case how dso we explain Stox getting a car in 9-weeks? I guess it may be a cancellation of same required spec?

Really don't know what to do. I know its a great car, but 7-months???

I have been in a similar boat.  Seriously contemplated bailing the wait for my new build an ex demo TDI DSG estate froma local dealers.  But two thing niggled the dsg is pain for comapny car tax and after waiting this long I wanted a new car not one with 5k miles on it.

My dealer bless him has found an cancelled order for the manual TDI combi that I wanted.  With the majority of the spec i wanted but no pano roof.  I have come to the conclusion that waiting until July / August for my Meteor grey car was going to drive me mad so have plumped for the cancelled car.

So now jolly excited and expecting a Rallye Green combi next month.  Built and waiting to be shipped!  The only fly in the ointment is that the sat nav needs to be retro fitted. They are all confident.  I am slightly sceptical.

Startins worcester have in stock two VRS petrol estates if anyone wants a similar plan B
