Fabia vrs service

Featured Replies

Hi all. My fabia is currently on 110k and im going to be doing a service on it this weekend the last service was done on 103k from thw garage i brought it from. Just wondering with that milege what service parts would be worth doing other than the normal oil filter, air filter and oil.

fuel filter, pollen filter, new sump plug. When was the brake fluid last done? Recommended every two years.

Not sure when the brake fluid was done. Looks like fuel filter was changed on last service at 103k isit still worth changing it?

Personally for the sake of the extra money I would just get it done for piece of mind and just because it's in there that's my opinion anyway :)

Just serviced mine, did the Air and oil filters along with the oil of course.

Didn't bother with the fuel filter.

Ive found the cheapest pd oil to be the quantum platinum 5w/40w from the dealers.

Got the filters from the dealer too few pounds more but high quality and convenient.

Just a basic oil filter, sumo plug change all it needs as it's just a 10k service

Isit 5w30 or 5w40 oil garage my dad works at says 5w30 longlife stuff they use in a massive barrel meat to cost them loads

as long as the oil meets the rqd specs as PD's are very fussy.

Whats the specs of the oil needed

I believe its 505 01 or the later 507 00 spec.

And yes the stuff i use is 5w40, but there is long life version thats 5w30 both are fine so long as they meet the vw spec.

Im quessing then the oil the garage uses im going to wont be vw specific as its just 5w30 longlife oil they use on most diesel engines im sure when i looked it was triple qx or sumin may be wrong but it comes in a massive oil drum

Yea maybe when my dad asked they said it will be fine for my engine its only costing me £10 on the side cash for the oil haha boss is away lol

Quantum 507 is sub £30 from TPS, frankly you'd be a mug to use a random oil that isn't certified on a PD, cam wear is bad/expensive.

Agreed. Nice to see you back!

Isit worth checking with the garage what the spec of the oil is before

Agreed. Nice to see you back!

Thanks, short version is I ran the Leon for 6 months, diesel mpg = :D actual cost per mile all in = :( :( :(

Clgale88 honestly make sure it's spec'd to at least 505.01, if it isn't then you're potentially doing more harm than good for the sake of a quite insignificant amount of money.
