Can I group some suspension work together?

Featured Replies

Soon I will be - finally - doing one the most wanted upgrades for me to the car, the dampers. With the H&R springs already on, I think the Bilstein B8 will be a perfect match and hopefully an improvement in all areas.

My question is, since around here, such suspension work (dampers replacement) is really difficult to be done (most garages just won't install aftermarket parts no matter what) and expensive, should I profit from the occasion and do as much related work as possible? Given that springs have already been uprated, I am thinking bushes. A full kit. So am I right in thinking that all disassembly required for a full bush upgrade  will be done anyway during the dampers replacement and I would therefore be saving on the double labour charged in the future? And what about the engine mount. Is that bush included in usual full front & rear kits such as: http://www.superpro.eu.com/catalogue/74/skoda-fabia-mkii-2006-_to-current/kit5229adjk/front-and-rear-suspension-bush-kit-with-anti-lift/#SPF3273K  and does it offer a significant benefit as the rest of the bushes are reported to do?

Btw, superpro or powerflex anybody?

What other expensive suspension upgrades I'm forgetting? ( I have a rarb already and I fitted it myself so not that one!)

While the car is up and the wheels are off, bushes can be done, fit new top mounts, FARB which is a more involved fit than that RARB, could do brakes too.

Only MK2's I can think of with the bushes done are 32kofData and vRSy. Sy did Superpro I believe, check 32k's build thread for his, think they may have been powerflex.

Bit of a downer things are so pricey in France.

Yes, quite a few, which is strange for a car with such a mediocre suspension. I always thought these things were the most popular upgrade within the VAG cars (I know old Cupra bushes are kind of "legendary").

Upgraded top mounts and engine mount do they offer a significant improvement in your knowledge/experience?

Brakes start to raise the cost a bit! Will wait until they need replacement.

Ok, I've gone for bushes as well in the end, Front & Rear kit with Anti-Lift. I know myself well enough to predict If I didn't do it now, in something around a year from now, I would wonder If I could sharpen that handling and whether there would anything more to get out of springs, dampers and rarb already on so... better save on that fitting cost!!

Downside is as I will be doing them both at the same time I won't be able to tell what improvement is attributed where, but there will most probably be one h&ll of improvement afterwards...
