Build Week 16

Featured Replies

Got a call today from the dealer confirming week 16, so my white VRS tsi combi should be with me in mid May, I placed the ordered the second week of January, fingers crossed…

From what I have read it will be worth the wait..

Encouraging news but massively inconsistent, I also placed my order that week but am looking at June.

Fingers crossed you do get it in mid May.

My race blue VRS tsi combi has been on week 16 for the last three weeks but not yet confirmed, everything crossed!

I ordered first week of November and have confirmed bw17. Consider yourselves lucky!

Everything crossed here hoping it materializes in May, it does seem like a lottery as others have said...

  • 4 weeks later...

Got a message from the dealer today, he said that my VRS has indeed been built and should be with me the second week of May, I placed my order the second week of January for a white VRS Combi tsi and count myself lucky to have it in twelve weeks or so...let the count down begin Whooo Hooo

So hang in there production is getting better...

Got my counting wrong :) That should read four months or so...16 weeks since order...

Also I assume yours is left hand drive, so not really reflective of RHD UK order delivery times ;)

Oh no it 'aint… I popped in to my dealer today to find out what was happening as he said, when I spoke to him last week, that he was going to email their business manager to find out what was going on over there (I ordered 14th December, white TDi vRS combi with extras).

I saw the email my dealer received (from their business manager) which contained a forwarded email from someone I understood to be in the top ranks at SUK, and things certainly aren't improving!

It stated a continuing issue with vRS production, minimum lead times of 25 weeks, and in my case a statement that they 'hoped' to see a scheduled build date for mid-June, but couldn't say until the factory produces its June schedule - so I'm no closer to knowing now than I was back on 14th December last year when I ordered, and if I do (???) get a build date of mid-June, I won't see the car until mid-July which will be 7 months/31 weeks minimum… and there's people on this forum who ordered way before me who are still waiting.

Not gonna cancel and still prepared to wait as can't find an alternative as good (looked at the Audi A4 2.0 TDi Blackline estate @ £37K over the weekend… absolute PANTS considering it's £10K more)… and VW is a bit 'samey'!

Ho-hum!

Couple more months delay and I'll be able to insure it through Saga...

There are also people who have ordered after you & me and their cars have been built :(

My car (Elegance not vRS) was build week 17 and was built today apparently, how long does it take to get from the factory to the dealer usually? My dealer originally said anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks depending how lucky you are... so I guess 2 weeks on average?

We drive on the left here too most of the time in Éire :)

According to the dealer even if you have a build week your car may not be built that week if all of the parts/extras are not in place, if not, you get pushed back and some other car gets built.

He did say there was unprecedented demand for the VRS and in particularly the diesel estates..

It all seems like a lottery as others have stated, it feels like its taking forever but it will be worth the wait you'll see :)

I was told 3-4 weeks from factory to Dublin port...so I would think UK would be about the same...its a pity we can't fly out and drive home from the factory... :)

I would happily skip a few weeks and drive mine from the factory back home, it would make a nice little Euro trip holiday! :)

Just to throw some more fuel on the fire.... Today I have received a confirmed build week of week 19, after placing my order on 3 March. That means if my car are build on 5 May(week 19) and is delivered to me by end of May, that I only waited 14/15 weeks from ordering to receiving my car. Who is complaining, not me!!

I am sorry to hear about some of you, who are still waiting on cars that was ordered back in October and November. Last week, one of colleagues cancelled his Mid November order because he still did not even have an unconfirmed build week. I really do feel for you but my last car also took 8 months to arrive and I know your pain and frustration in waiting that long for a car.  In the end we are all the same - boys will be boys - and we all want our toys now!

Dealer sent mail today about confirmed buildweek 19 for my Black estate VRS with the 19" extreme alloys.

Ordered 17 December and should have it late may early june, a bit more than the "Max 12 weeks" i was told when i bought the car in the first place.
