VRS TDI Octavia fuel pump inaudible

Featured Replies

OK guys, after an earlier post, i took the car out at lunch and realised i cant hear the fuel pump. The car runs, but throws errors until it is warm. I assume I shoul dbe able to hear the whoosh of the pump priming before starting, but it is silent.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the fuse for this? I guess i could pop the pipe off but dont want to start spraying diesel everywhere.

not sure if this helps but in the absence of any other answers it'll be the best one so far but, on my MkI Fabia 1.9TDi the 'squishhh' sound of it priming isn't noticeable when I have a full tank. It's only when I get to around 3/4s that I start to notice the squishhh.

squishhh yes thats a good description... im at 1/4 tank now and cant hear it, but i listened to the pump under the seat and it hums... beginning to think it is jammed

All the pump on my PD140 has ever done is hum slightly, regardless of fuel level, and it starts and runs fine. The only time I've heard anything resembling a squish noise was when I'd just changed the fuel filter and there must have been a bit of air the return line.
