When you say back ordering, are you on about the new GTL like .expert etc?

No existing .com domain that's up for renewal in about a year's time

namecheap.com

That gives an option to sent them an offer.  I'm just after a way to get in as soon as the renewal passes and it becomes available again.  It's only a holding page from the current registrar

Oh I see... Why you so confident the domain will become free? Users get plenty of notice from the domain provider as it is about to expire.

I think heart charge me £30 on success.

You'll be waiting a lot longer than 12 months. I lost octaviars.com quiet a few years ago, and its still alive today. The company its registered with keep renewing it  a week before it expires, so it never actually expires.

Currently registered to an individual so hopefully it'll expire.

I can't see queues of people all waiting for it to expire.

Many people just auto renew with a credit card (I do this via FastHosts), so the domain may never free up :-(

I've captured a fair few - so keep the faith!

Going back to the original question, I don't believe there is anything like a guaranteed domain grabber. They all work in the same way and just try to register it over and over again if it comes up for purchase, and there can be several bots all doing the same thing.

Just beware websites where you have to pay in advance or load funds onto your account that you can't get back if unsuccessful.

123 seem to offer free grabbing tracking but a hefty cost if successful.

From what I can tell, if several parties have registered interest in a domain that becomes available, then a kind of one shot sealed envelope style auction takes place with the highest bid winning.
