vRS - advice on a few mods

Featured Replies

I know many people here dislike them but im liking the idea of red rally style mudflaps on my car, only issue is they don't seem to make any that fit a mk2 vrs estate, unless I'm missing something

I'm with you there; I like the look of rally style flaps, whether or not they will look good on our estates is another matter!

You could probably get a universal kit that only requires self tappers to screwed into the wheel arc inner trim?

So glad to find someone who agrees :) yeah that could be the way forward, someone on here went through the effort of making a set that fit the monte which can now be bought from a few places, wonder if that could be modified to fit.

The next question is, blue car, red flaps.... Too lairy? In my head I think I like the idea. May have to play around in photoshop

Nahh never too lairy! Vinyl flames down the side would be lairy! I think red would look decent, although I'm a sucker for black.

Very impressed with the performance of the standard mud flaps. Noticeably less spray in heavy rain yesterday. I think the rear ones take a bit of getting used to as they protrude the bumper slightly the give full coverage of the rear wheels however they do give the car a slightly wider appearance from the rear as mentioned above. I doubt you could achieve the same quality and finish with any aftermarket product.

Just checked in on progress of the Mudflaps thread

I need to get out more

Does my bum look big with these?

Well according to this thread yes, mud flaps make the car have the illusion of having wider tyres fitted.

Not that that helps road holding much,

maybe better to actually fit wider tyres, then even wider mud flaps,

or get a proper S2000 look a liky kit.

Fitting mud flaps is for keeping off mud, not for changing the looks of the rear. I didn't fit them for looks, just to keep the mud off, it just so happens that I thought the rear looked better with them on rather than without. If you don't like mud flaps for either keeping off mud or making your car look different, don't fit them.  it's your car, do what you like with it.
