Clutch Question

Featured Replies

Right had a search and came up with various different answers but most were from years ago so figured I would start a new topic.  I had a Shark remap a couple of weeks ago, and as predicted, my clutch has stated slipping in higher gears when the RPM is 2.5k and above.  Now if I was just driving normally I could nurse it for a while without any issues as when driving normally it works fine.  However I am going to the Ring in a month and will be lapping a fair few times so do not want it dying out there.

I have read a little about SMF conversions and have found this on ebay seems far too cheap?

In peoples opinion is this worth doing or should I just change all the DMF parts as this is my preference?

I read that the Shark remap is done to work on standard parts so I guess my clutch was just on its way out anyway (80k miles)

Any help would be great or other options for me to consider.

I'd rather cut off my arm than fit techniclutch parts.

If you're staying stage one power, just replace like for like with a new dmf. None of the problems associated with SMF and rattles then.

stick to DMF - its not as harsh and will not ruin the driving experience

As my boss used to say to the little old dears - Foot on clutch change gear- foot off clutch throttle

That's a nice analogy lol

Cheapest place to buy the parts still carparts4less?

Any part numbers I need specifically as there seems to be multiple parts for my car.

I've very interested in this thread having discovered my clutch is also slipping. So far, a full clutch kit is working out at £517.99 from my brief google search :'(

Pricing up Sach branded gear on Carparts4less resulted in £396.97

LUK make decent clutches too, might be worth looking in to a price.
